oh my god. after seeing your post, i went over and read “this tragic glass” and… i really shouldn’t have. that was fucking awful. i especially liked how the “genderbot” found a transgender woman’s work to be “unequivocally male”, because… that makes… sense…? oh wait, it doesn’t. unless you’re a cissexist asshole. so, yeah. you are not alone in thinking that story was terrible. also, bear behaved fairly atrociously during racefail ‘09, and apparently there is a solid amount of racism in several of her books.

Oh holy jesus I think I remember the “unequivocally male” thing but I didn’t realize it was towards A TRANS AUTHOR.

I didn’t know that about Racefail. I was going to just never read any of her stuff again for my own peace of mind but that makes me feel a lot better about everything (weirdly enough), thank you.

Edit: b-by which I mean I feel a lot better about boycotting her stuff because now it isn’t just “I GOT WEIRDLY OVERSENSITIVE OVER ONE STORY AND THE EMAIL I SENT IN A FIT OF DESPAIR”. I don’t know. I just woke up.
